Designed in 1765 for the 3rd Duke of Richmond, this mantel was created for the drawing room at Goodwood, West Sussex. The Duke was a politician, diplomat, and army officer who attained the rank of Field Marshal in 1795 and commissioned Adam to design a new house for his country estate at Goodwood.
