Robert Adam revolutionized interior decoration in the late 18th century, interpreting classical forms in a light and playful manner that is immediately recognizable.

Adam is credited with the popularization of the style known as Neo-Classical which defined the later Georgian period. Adam devoted much time to applying this new form to the design of fireplaces, recognizing, like all great architects, that a successfully executed fireplace is the key to balance and symmetry in a room.
