The Stuart

Designed in 1766 for the Rt Hon. James Stuart Mackenzie, this mantel originally formed part of the salon in an unknown castle. Stuart Mackenzie had a prominent political and diplomatic career and also served as Lord Privy Seal of Scotland. Adam was also employed by his brother, John Stuart, 3rd Earl of Bute.
