Designed in 1765 for the 3rd Duke of Richmond for the drawing room at Goodwood, West Sussex. The Duke was a politician, diplomat and army officer who attained the rank of Field Marshall in 1795 and commissioned Adam to make designs for a new house at his country estate of Goodwood.
