Mantels by Chesney's

The Chesney’s collection of hand carved marble and stone mantels are internationally recognised as the most comprehensive to be found anywhere.

The range incorporates both historic and contemporary designs. The historical collections provide a lexicon of mantel designs spanning the past four centuries. Renaissance, Elizabethan, Baroque, Palladian and Neo-classical styles are all represented with extensive collections of British Georgian, Regency, Victorian and Edwardian mantels appearing within the range.

Chesney’s also offer a custom service for the manufacture of historic mantels which can be selected from an archive of many hundreds of antique examples or copied from client’s drawings or photographs. Every fireplace in the Chesney’s collection is characterised by the historical authenticity of its design and the outstanding quality of its craftsmanship and materials.

The contemporary collection includes mantel designs by leading fashion, interiors and furniture designers and features the work of household names such as Jasper Conran and Jane Churchill. New designs are regularly added to reflect the changing tastes in interior design and Chesney’s is widely seen as the leading influence in the development of domestic mantel design.

We also offer the manufacture of modern mantel designs on a bespoke basis, a service that is extremely popular with our Interior Designer and Architect clients.

A new freedom in the use of architectural form and ornamentation emerged in the Victorian age which is reflected in the mantel designs of the period.

Regency Mantel Collection

It is the pleasing combination of scale and simplicity that makes the Regency mantel an ideal choice for modern and period rooms, with its restrained ornamentation and simple construction.

Heritage Mantel Collection

The Heritage Collection displays the twin qualities of outstanding craftsmanship and integrity of design that are the hallmark of every Chesney's Mantel.

Soane Fireplaces Archive
